Dear friends,

    I want to let you know that our Christian leadership training conference in Hong Kong just concluded amazingly. More than 400 Christian leaders from all over China gathered for this first ever Chinese Christian worldview training on the “Lordship of Christ” in all spheres of life. The regrettable fact that about 40 leaders were banned from the conference shows how urgent the need is for this type of teaching. 

    “Sorry I’m unable to make it due to the current situation, but [we] will pray for all of you,” said pastor Li Jiang from Hunan province, who was interrogated and prevented from attending. Another, Miao Yu, was detained for 6 days for trying to attend and had his passport and ID confiscated. 

    “We had to play a cat-and-mouse game for days before we escaped from the police hunting us in order to come here,” said Anna Peng from Inner Mongolia, smiling widely as she said it. She and her team came from a church area with over 7,000 believers.

    As China is destined to become the largest Christian nation in the next decade, I feel an urgent need to help equip 100,000 leaders with a solid biblical worldview to prepare leaders in a post-Communist nation. These are the future Chinese Christian Washingtons, Jeffersons, Martin Luther Kings and Churchills. 

    This training in Hong Kong provided a series of equipping opportunities for the months ahead. From Christian political engagement by former Dutch deputy Prime Minister Andre Rouvoet; to insights on Romans 13 regarding the meaning of submission to authorities by Dr. Stephen Tong, the “Billy Graham of China,” as well as others.

    “I have never received such an in-depth, rich training before. We need this type of teaching desperately,” said Simon Tai who is a Christian educator in my home city in Shandong, of nearly 3 million people. Simon is also a leader of the largest house church with over 1,000 believers across 6 different meeting places. 

    Dear brothers and sisters, at this holiday season, are you ready to answer this “Macedonian Call” by Simon? I’ll count on you!
