Worldview training conference for pastors held in Hong Kong

In response to a growing need for Chinese Christians to receive training not tampered with by the Communist government, a Christian organization in Hong Kong hosted a four-day conference from Nov. 1-4 for church leaders throughout China.

The Hong Kong Cultural Mandate Association, a Christian organization based in Hong Kong, hosted The Cultural Mandate of Chinese Christians and the Lordship of Christ conference in a local hotel. Over the course of four days, Christian experts from around the world addressed theology, politics, family and marriage, and finance, in order to teach church leaders how to apply their faith to these areas.

The speakers included Steven Tong, a popular Chinese evangelist hailed as the “Billy Graham of China”; Andre Rouvoet, the former Deputy Prime Minister of the Netherlands; renowned economist Michael Schluter; BBC producer and reporter David Campanale; Darin Wood, the pastor of First Baptist Church in Midland, Texas; Steven Khoury, the founder of Holy Land Missions; Hong Yujian, a Chinese pastor and evangelist; Cai Zhuohua, a house church pastor; Zhang Boli, the founder of Harvest Chinese Christian Church in Singapore; and Chad Bullard, a pastor at Stonegate Fellowship in Odessa, Texas. Each speaker presented a lecture on his area of expertise, and several gave additional presentations at optional workshops.

Hong Kong’s unique status makes it an ideal place to host such trainings. Christians from the mainland can get permission to travel there more easily than gaining access to foreign nations, and Hong Kong suffers far fewer restrictions from China’s Communist party, making teaching safer.
